I began my undergraduate experience with the goal of becoming a high school physics teacher. However, after spending three years as a Resident Assistant at Edgewood University (then Edgewood College), I discovered a passion for supporting college students outside of the classroom. This experience ultimately led me to pursue a career in student affairs. After completing my master’s degree in College Student Affairs at Minnesota State University, Mankato, I began my professional career as a full-time Hall Director.

I am continuing my education by pursuing an Educational Specialist degree in Education Leadership because I believe that learning and professional growth should be lifelong pursuits. While I am still exploring where my career may ultimately lead, I can see myself continuing to work in areas such as student conduct, Title IX, or accessibility resources. I am also interested in the possibility of becoming a faculty member and teaching future higher education professionals. Regardless of the specific path I take, I know that I want to continue working with and supporting college students.

Through the Education Leadership program, I hope to strengthen my skills as a leader, supervisor, and educator. In particular, I want to become a more supportive and competent supervisor who can help my staff grow professionally and, in turn, better support the students they serve. Ultimately, I hope to use what I learn to contribute positively to the college student experience and to the development of the professionals who support students every day.
